The Thames ea flows through southern England and into the North Sea. It is one of the longest eas on the iland of Great Britain. It springs at Kemble in the Cotswolds. It flows through Oxford (where it is known as the Isis) and London.

In the H16th and H17th, at a time some called the "Little Ice Eld", the Thames often froze in winter, The first frost fair xas held in 1607, with  games like ice bowling...

By the H18th, the Thames had become one of the busiest waterways.
