Folklatin betokens sundry kinds of Latin spoken mostly by the lower rungs of the befolking and the unlearned throughout the Romanish Rike, which over many years unfolded into the Romanish tungs of today. It is therefore a loose name for unwritten kinds of Latin, having many slang words. In many falls a given Folklatinish word was the forebear of a Romanish word of today, whereas the evenworth in Old Latin has no offspring in Romish tungs. For Byspell, Folklatinish testa "pot" took the stead, in the Romish tungs, of the Latinish word caput, meaning "head".
