English is a West Germanic tung which was born in England, but is now the mother tung for about 300-400 thousand thousand folk in the Banded Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, Ireland, the Banded Folkdoms of Americksland, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, and throughout the world.
English is the daughter tongue of Old English, but with a great deal of words coming from the French, Old Norse, Latin, and Greek. Its nearest kintong is Scots, a tung which is spoken in Scotland.
